The evening starts at 8:30pm with a performance from West Michigan-based hardcore punk band The Rock and Roll Bad Guys. With a unique presentation and high-energy style that evokes pioneers of the genre like Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat, the Rock and Roll Bad Guys have played at venues around the state from Bell’s Eccentric Cafe (Kalamazoo), to the Sugar Bowl (Kalamazoo), to the Rex Theatre (Morenci) and more. The Rock and Roll Bad Guys will get everyone ready for an evening of monsters, mayhem, and cartoonish violence just in time for the evening’s feature presentation.
The evening continues with the 1987 cult classic “The Monster Squad” at 9pm. A group of pre-teens in a non-descript town idolize the classic Universal monster movies, and more specifically, their inhuman stars. But once every hundred years, they are thrown into something they may not be ready for when Count Dracula himself, along with several of his monstrous counterparts arrives looking for an amulet that would let them take over the world!
Tickets for this event are $10 including fees ($6+fees). Doors will open one hour prior to showtime and seating will begin 30 minutes prior to showtime. Concessions, including alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase. No outside food or drink allowed in the theatre. Ear plugs will be available for $1.00 at concessions. “The Monster Squad” is rated PG-13 for some foul language, scary scenes, and some gore.
