Consisting of mostly inexperienced new recruits, the men under his command have a hard time dealing with Stryker’s tough drills and thicker skin. Even his old friends start to wonder if he’s gone from being the epitome of a tough Marine Sergeant to a man over the edge.

His single-minded determination for revenge puts his new crew in unnecessary danger. Not willing to risk the lives of the men under his supervision first officer Jim Bledsoe (Bert Lancaster) does everything in his power to derail Richardson’s dangerous plan.
